I am a “newbie” at songwriting worship songs. I mean, I have written songs for an a capella group type of thing, but songwriting for a church is a different beast entirely!
Well, I’m excited to announce that The Zoe Group has recorded a song I wrote for their new CD! The song is entitled “We Believe” and it will be released later this fall on Zoe’s upcoming album “Inside Out”. Here’s a clip of them recording the song as well as a new one from Randy and Sheryl! I’m so excited to hear it completed!

dude that’s awesome!! i’m proud to know ya! … really!
i’d like to hear about your songwriting process – i’ve never done it and i’m curious how people go about it – do you get the words first and try to find a melody? vice versa?
Most often, I find a melody first, then the words come later that fit the style of the song. That happened with this one except for the chorus- the words and the melody came at the same time. I really wanted to to have a statement of faith… so “we believe in You” just naturally flowed out.
I also have read in the Psalms and found melodies that work with them. In that way, they come at the same time too. I’m excited to finally hear the finished product! Blessings to you and your family Mark! Hope to see you all soon.

Impressive! I’m anxious to hear the finished product. Way to go, Chris!
WOW!! I love it!! Congrats Chris on a job well done.
now when your old school Hillsong fans see the title of this song on the Cd, they will wonder if that’s the hillsong tune We Believe or not… remember that old song?
Thanks guys! I’m really excited about Zoe recording a song of mine. You know, It’s one thing when you write something and record it yourself, but for someone else to like it enough to record it- it’s such an honor!
I remember sitting in your office and putzing around with harmonies when you were first writing that song. Congrats, my friend. I’m proud.
